CHICAGO, IL – The American Business Immigration Coalition Action (ABIC Action) strongly applauds U.S. Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) for their bipartisan leadership in reintroducing the Dream Act of 2025. This vital legislation would allow noncitizens without lawful status who were brought to the United States as children and meet certain education, military service, or work requirements to earn lawful permanent residence.

These individuals, known as Dreamers, have grown up in our communities, attended our schools and contribute to our economy. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients and their households contribute $6.2 billion in federal taxes and $3.3 billion in state and local taxes each year. However, under current law there is often no chance for them to ever become citizens and fulfill their potential.

“Dreamers are law-abiding, tax-paying contributors who are essential to the strength of our economy and communities. Their work generates billions in tax revenue and supports businesses across the country. Removing these essential workers would not only disrupt our workplaces and neighborhoods but also undermine America’s global competitiveness. We urge Congress to seize this opportunity to deliver lasting solutions that secure our workforce and offer stability to our communities,” said Rebecca Shi, CEO of American Business Immigration Coalition.

“For all the consternation about immigration in America, a record 79% of Americans still believe immigration is good for our country,” said Andrew Tisch, ABIC Board Members and Loews Co-Chairman for Forbes, ” According to an MIT study, immigrants are 80% more likely to start a business in the U.S. than people born in the country. Nearly half of Fortune 500 companies were founded by immigrants or their children. That means millions of Americans who were born here are working in good jobs for companies founded by people who were born somewhere else.”

“In a rare and much welcomed act of bipartisanship, Congress has another opportunity to do the will of the American people, right a wrong, and pass the Dream Act of 2025 sponsored by Senators Durbin (D-IL) and Murkowski (R-AK). Americans overwhelmingly support Dreamers becoming full citizens and recognize that our economy urgently needs their labor,” said Raul Raymundo, CEO of the Resurrection Project and ABIC Board Member

“As business leaders, we know America’s economic vitality depends on a steady, legal workforce, and Dreamers are a critical part of that equation. Their contributions, both as employees and entrepreneurs, sustain jobs and drive growth in every sector. It’s time for Congress to act and ensure these young people can continue to contribute to our shared prosperity,” said Craig J. Duchossois, American Business Immigration Coalition Board Member and Chair Emeritus of Duchossois Capital Management (DCM).
