Immigration News Briefing:<\/b><\/h3>\n

  1. Deportation efforts <\/b>escalated this week<\/b><\/a>, with the Trump administration reporting expanded ICE raids targeting undocumented immigrants.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Individuals with and without criminal backgrounds are being detained<\/b>. While ICE has stated that it prioritizes people with criminal records, reports confirm that immigrants without criminal histories are also being arrested.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. On one day, for example, ICE reported detaining 613 individuals with criminal histories and 566 individuals without criminal histories<\/b>, <\/span>reported the Wall Street Journal<\/span><\/a>. Additional <\/span>reports showed<\/span><\/a> that ICE detained Puerto Ricans (U.S. citizens), an American veteran and a Navajo Nation member.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. In less than two weeks in office, President Trump has issued sweeping immigration executive orders, including<\/span> ending legal work permit programs via Temporary Protected Status<\/b><\/a> for 600,000 Venezuelan migrants, 120,000 Ukrainian and Afghan migrants, <\/span>freezing refugee resettlement<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>suspending refugee admission and <\/b>shutting down the CBP One App<\/b><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Last night, the Trump administration shared its plans<\/b> <\/a>to <\/span>revoke around 500,000 legal work permits by ending the CHNV (Humanitarian Parole) program<\/b>, which could have significant implications for employers and migrant workers in the U.S. who were granted temporary legal status under the Biden administration.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Concern about economic and inflation impacts of immigration enforcement is growing<\/b><\/a>, from farmers, restaurant owners, and healthcare providers <\/b>in part thanks to <\/span>ABIC business leaders<\/b><\/a>.<\/b><\/li>\n
