The order would withhold federal funding from jurisdictions that do not cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/texas-schoolgirl-suicide-bullied-ice-immigration-2033043\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">11-year-old schoolgirl from Texas died by suicide after being bullied for months by classmates who threatened to call ICE<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. They allegedly told the girl that once her family<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was deported, she would be all alone in the U.S.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Immigration Enforcement and Deportations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/national-security\/new-ice-data-shows-administration-isnt-just-arresting-criminals-rcna192656\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">41% of people detained by ICE in the first two weeks of February had no criminal conviction<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or pending charges, according to ICE data reported by NBC News. At the same time, the data showed detention centers are nearing full capacity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.bloomberglaw.com\/daily-labor-report\/trump-doj-fires-20-immigration-judges-as-termination-wave-begins\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DOJ dismissed 20 immigration judges this week who help decide if a noncitizen can be deported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, amid a record 3.7 million case backlog. The<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Trump administration also ordered <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/02\/18\/politics\/unaccompanied-migrant-children-legal-services-trump-cuts\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a halt to legal representation for unaccompanied migrant children<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which affects nearly 26,000 children.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/florida-immigration-law-trump-desantis-migrant-flights-b72912ad216fa25723ce496eb093ecb5\"><b>Florida is moving quickly to enforce new tough immigration laws<\/b><\/a><b>, with <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the creation of a new state immigration enforcement board and allocation of $300 million to ramp up. The new laws increase penalties for undocumented immigrants who commit crimes, create a state crime for re-entering the state illegally and revoke in-state tuition eligibility for undocumented students.
