WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013<\/b> Today, Representative Sylvia Garcia (D-TX) introduced a <\/span>bipartisan discharge petition<\/span><\/a> with Representative Maria Salazar (R-FL)\u00a0 to advance the Dream and Promise Act in the U.S. House of Representatives. This bipartisan legislation would provide eligible Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, Dreamers, and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders with an earned pathway to citizenship, offering long-overdue stability to workers, employers, families, and communities across the country. In response,<\/span> Rebecca Shi, CEO of <\/b>American Business Immigration Coalition Action<\/b><\/a> (ABIC Action), issued the following statement:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cWith over 330,000 Haitians TPS holders set to lose their status on Friday, following months of renewal delays for DACA recipients in this country, it is clear that Congress must act. The Dream and Promise Act is a commonsense solution that would provide certainty for these workers and allow them to fully contribute to our country through an earned path to citizenship. Dreamers and TPS holders work hard, pay taxes, start businesses, and keep America running. Ongoing efforts to push these workers out of legal immigration status will only hurt our workforce, drive up prices and destabilize our communities. ABIC Action applauds Rep. Garcia’s discharge petition, and urges Republicans and Democrats to come together and pass permanent protections for these workers now.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
