Primary Election Victories for Dignity Act Cosponsors in Indiana Prove Bipartisan Immigration Solutions are a Winning Formula

By May 6, 2026No Comments

Washington, DC – Last night’s primary results send a clear message: voters are looking for results on immigration. On May 5, 2026, several key Republican cosponsors of the Dignity Act faced primary challenges from opponents targeting their support for the legislation. Yet, despite these challenges, all Republican cosponsors of the bill up for election emerged victorious.

The Results

  • Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04): Won with 64.7% of the vote.
  • Marlin Stutzman (IN-03): Won with 65.4% of the vote.

Rebecca Shi, CEO of the American Business Immigration Coalition Action, issued the following statement:

“In the face of aggressive primary challenges and millions of dollars in attack ads centered on their support for the Dignity Act, all Republican cosponsors of the Dignity Act emerged victorious. These results prove that common-sense, bipartisan solutions balancing border security with legal status are a winning formula, even in a competitive Republican primary. It is time for Congress to listen to the electorate and deliver the solutions our economy and communities urgently need.”
