Agriculture Workforce Campaign
Food security is national security - Fix the Farm Labor Shortage Now
On June 30, Utah farmers gathered for what would be the first stop of the National Food Security Farm Tour to call on Congress to fix the farm workforce crisis—and to sound the alarm that our nation’s farm labor crisis is driving up food prices and jeopardizing our national food security.
Tell your senators to support the Affordable and Secure Food Act to stabilize our nation’s farm workforce, ensure America’s food security at home, lower food prices for consumers and put a down payment on border security NOW!

Lower food prices and combat inflation
This labor crisis has contributed to the highest inflation in 40 years. As American families struggle to afford staples like meat, milk, eggs and produce, a new Texas A&M study shows that a stable and legal agricultural workforce is linked with lower inflation and prices on food—including these staples.
Food security IS national security
There’s another cost, too—national security. The USDA recently said that, next year for the first time, the U.S. will import more food than it exports. That means we’ll be depending on other nations to feed us. That is not good. A nation that cannot feed itself is not secure.
“A workforce shortage in the farming industry has driven higher food costs, along with a supply chain weakened by the pandemic and war in Ukraine.”
We need to pass farm workforce solutions NOW
There is a solution—reforming the H2A guest worker program and ensuring agricultural producers have the workers they need to produce food for American tables 365 days a year. The The Farm Workforce Modernization Act has already passed twice in the House of Representatives with bipartisan support. It’s time for the Senate to act by moving forward its own version. We can’t wait any longer.
